Epiphanies along the way

Getting legal

At least I hope I am! I had a helpful guide in Kathleen Nelms who I found via FB. I have my temporary resident card and my Oregon car is good for a year.

My current lease is until mid November - the high season LOL! I know that I want to stay here longer so keeping an eye out for the next great place.

Art is all around us

Someone recently said to me that rich people tend to decorate in neutrals, all that greige….and poorer folks tend to decorate with color. I thought that was an interesting observation and one I’m seeing play out in this little village that has unique bright casas alongside modern black and gray monoliths.

I guess I’m lucky that I never got too wealthy for color!

I’m enjoying taking classes and will shortly be offering some!

The animals are so active here!

I’ve been loving listening to all the different types of birds on the patio. There is such a variety in songs and colors!

My patio has a pathway that connects with all the others along the fence- which gives the hummingbirds and others a fun racetrack to zoom down. I have been ‘buzzed’ almost every time I sit out there. Think Top Gun buzzing mixed with Star Wars piloting.

The day Katie and Trevor left for home, I had this catydid (aka Katie-did) visit me- it felt very much like, “don’t worry I got you”

I had a little bird nest inside the mouth of a sun wall hanging- the parents were very attentive to feeding them - I’ll upload a video as soon as I can figure that out.

Oh and I have a visiting cat who likes my cereal milk leftovers. The chips and stuff go to the herd of goats that roam the side street.

There isn’t a Later… just now.

Living here is teaching me in very tangible ways that I need to be less in my head planning and more in the moment.

If you want to see the sunset, go sit down, it’s not waiting for anyone.

If you want something cold, drink/eat it fast as it’s not going to keep.

That wonderful bread and tortillas you smell? Grab them now and eat them now as they aren’t full of preservatives and the bakers open and close early, so don’t think you’ll just stock up.

This is a big change for my ‘stockpile, wait until I get some tasks done, delay gratification’ Alaskan formed mind.
